I'm 5 weeks into the beginner DDP Yoga program. I started at 321, the heaviest I've ever been and today I'm at 295 lbs. Also due to carrying around this weight most of my adult life, my doctor said my knees are bone on bone and I'm actually a candidate for knee replacement but I'm only 45, so my insurance would never cover it. I also have a torn meniscus in my left knee. In addition, before I started the program I couldn't lift my left arm above my head without significant pain and discomfort due to a burr.

Now I share all this with you not to commiserate but to thank you profusely. My knees no longer hurt, I can lift my arm above my head with no pain and I can actually squat and stand without pain and without needing support to get back up. Your program is truly amazing and I look forward not only to my time on the mat but also to your constant words of encouragement during the videos as well as your motivational Mondays and your inspirational stories.

What kindled my need to lose weight is my older son Billy. Now I've always had problems being as "active" as he needs me to be because of my weight. Not being able to go on certain rides at Disney and Six Flags because I was too fat and couldn't close the harness. Not being able to keep up on Boy Scout hikes because I was exhausted and out of shape. Not being able to run with him when he was on the track team and he wanted me to practice with him. All of this was so hard for me to deal with but I always tried diet plans and going to the gym but I could never lose the weight and keep it off. This past summer changed all of that for me. My son and his Troop are going on a high adventure canoeing trip in Minnesota next summer and you have to be physically fit to do it. When it was announced that the Troop was doing this I decided I would not disappoint my boy anymore and needed to lose the weight.

About a year ago, my best friend Rey sent me a YouTube link. It was Arthur's video. What I saw that man do was inspiring and I said if he could do this then so could I. I bought the DVD's tried it twice and stopped because I was too "busy" or too "tired" or whatever the excuses were. The high adventure trip changed it all. I renewed my membership, downloaded the DDP YOGA Now app on my iPhone, streamed the app to my Apple TV. And now because of you, I am tearing it up!

When I saw on your website calendar that you would be at the New York City Comic Con, I couldn't wait to meet you to thank you in person. I still have a long way to go, but meeting you has renewed my resolve to hit my target of 215lbs.

By the way, my son Billy and Jack, 13 and 10 also get on the mat with me once in a while and they have even tried the DDPY Kidz workouts. I truly have a wonderful support structure in my kids and my wife Barbara and I am blessed to have them.
