My story might seem different from other DDPY success stories. Most people would have looked at me 3 months ago and said I didn’t need to lose weight, but as a chiropractor with a background in physical and health education, I knew I could do better. I was the heaviest I’d ever been, my migraine headaches were out of control, I didn’t like the way I felt, and I hated the way I looked. Finally, after seeing one too many bad pictures, I told my wife it was time for a change.
As a lifelong wrestling fan, I was very familiar with DDP and I’d seen the work he’d done with Jake and Scott so I knew I wanted to give DDPY a try. Step 1 was to stop drinking Coke and Mountain Dew. I’d been addicted to those beverages and caffeine for almost 20 years so I knew it wouldn’t be easy. After a week of detoxing, I was ready to start the program including the workout, the diet changes, and the lifestyle changes.
At that point, I was 204 pounds and my goal was to get back down below my wedding weight to 185 within 6 months. I wanted it to be an achievable goal so I gave myself some time. I hit the new lifestyle hard. I started working out every day, sometimes twice a day. I tracked everything I ate. I monitored the quality of my food as well as the quantity of my food. After two weeks, I started to notice real results. I felt better, my attitude improved, and I felt like I was in control of something for the first time in a long time. After four weeks, I had lost 12 pounds, my progress pictures were incredible, my clothes started to fit better, and I hadn’t had a migraine the entire month. I usually get 3 or 4 a month, but I hadn’t had a single migraine since starting DDPY. I also started noticing that the left PCL damage in my knee had started to improve, and I could touch my toes for the first time in 15 years. After two months, I had blown past my original goal of 185 pounds and was down to 180 pounds. Shirts that used to be tight are now too baggy and sloppy looking. I had zero migraines in those two months and I regained complete stability in my left knee.
People ask me if I lost the weight because of the workouts or because of the diet. I tell everyone that it’s because of the DDPY lifestyle. It’s because of DDP’s positivity and constant encouragement. It’s because I constantly remind myself that I don’t have to feel miserable anymore. I can be positive, I can have confidence, and I can be proud of my successes. Drinking 44-ounce fountain beverages didn’t make me feel like that. Living the DDPY lifestyle has made me feel like that again. Thank you DDP.
