I started DDP YOGA to change my life. I was stuck, literally, living with what each day brought me. I went from an active athlete to someone that’s had two back surgeries at L4-L5 (a lumbar fusion, and a discectomy). I have spent years on physical therapy, and all that good stuff that goes with it. I had come to this feeling that I was stuck with what life had given me, and I wouldn't be able to do the physical things in life. It was a tough pill to swallow for a former athlete. In 2011, I lost my wife to cancer. I have two young daughters, and felt lost. I ate. I ate more. It wasn't that I was just eating - I was eating bad foods and skipping meals. My weight shot up, and the fat was everywhere.
I couldn't walk for longer than fifteen or twenty minutes without my back giving me problems. I had trouble putting on my shoes. Between the mental and physical pains, each day was a fight. Exercise was out of the question. Each time I tried, my back would end up hurting to the point where I would have to ice or heat. The only place I was comfortable was on the couch. To top it all off, I wasn’t sleeping well, so I was tired all of the time.
In May of 2012, my father sent me an email with a link to Arthur's video. The words read: "If he can do this, why can't you?" After talking with a doctor, I took a leap of faith. I started DDP YOGA in June, and the first month was mind blowing. It was instant results – but not just in weight loss. Eating right, sleeping and getting rest at night, and I was happy. The mental aspect was just as big as the weight loss, and has changed my whole view on life. DDP showed me how to take control of my life. This program comes with the best support team as well. The community at Team DDP YOGA has been my inspiration and motivation when I fall. I've have lost 50 lbs. in a year and a half, and, for the first time since the mid 90's, I am below 190 lbs. To add to this, for the first time since the mid-90's, I am into a size 36 waist (down from 42's last year!) for my clothing. The most amazing thing has come from all of this – my back pain is gone. I've been pain free for almost six months now. And for the first time in over a decade, I am no longer on disability for my back problems - I have returned to work. I've been working for four months at an auto parts store, and enjoying every moment. The physical demands of the job have had no effect on me physically, and I continue to do my DDP YOGA on a regular basis. To say I feel great would be an understatement.
I see what this has done for me, and know that if anyone gives DDP YOGA a shot, they will succeed as well!
