I was born with Spina Bifida - my spinal cord was protruding from my lower back. Two weeks later I developed (water on the brain) or Hydrocephalus.
I had a rough childhood growing up. I went through a lot of struggles emotionally, mentally and physically. I was bullied abused and I experience PTSD to this day due to the numerous hospitalizations over the years. I have had 35 major surgeries to date, with 10 of those on my lower back. I currently have a spine stimulator in my lower back to help with the permanent nerve pain in my lower extremities. I struggled with addictions to hide the pain, including eating at times. I was blessed to have parents who instilled a "can do" attitude in me. I have always proved to doctors and to friends and family, that when someone says you can't do this or that I say "watch me."

A few months ago, I was at a point of despair or a point of "this is the best I will ever be." I came across DDPY on Facebook and I told my wife about it, and we wanted to give it a try. We ordered it and when it came in, I couldn't believe how empowering it was. The modifications you can employ to make the workouts your own were spot on. DDP makes you feel comfortable and at ease with yourself. As I moved forward in the workouts I was able to do workouts without modifications. I was so excited when I was able to sit Indian style for the 1st time in my entire life. Accountability is key. Find that one person to push you, to encourage you. My wife is mine. She is my best friend, my soulmate. We are not meant to do life alone.

I may never be an athlete or bodybuilder, but I am finally in control of my life. My faith in Jesus Christ pushes me every day.

Philippians 4:13 says: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Remember if you fail, fail forward. When you fall get back up. Never give up on yourself. Believe in yourself, because I believe in you.
