Kevin Lockett
My name is Kevin Lockett, I am 43 years old, and live in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Most of my life I was into working out, either doing martial arts or powerlifting. By 2009, I was married with two kids and wanted to better provide for my family, so I went back to school to get my degree in Criminal Justice and stopped my workout routines. With working full time and studying at home, working out was no longer one of my priorities. After I finished my degree, I got used to living the “good life” and eating whatever I wanted. As time went by, my health started to deteriorate and in November of 2015, I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis, Pre-Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. I was also severely overweight, had no energy and experienced constant headaches. I was on two different medications: one for my blood sugar and the other for my blood pressure. Although I tried several times to stop taking these medications, I was not able to get the conditions under control without changing my lifestyle.
In December of 2012, I purchased the DDP Yoga max pack after watching a video on the internet advertising this program. As long as I can remember, I have been a big fan of professional wrestling, and a big fan of DDP since the 90’s. I did some more research and found a video of Arthur Boorman which inspired me, and I started working out for few months. However, I ended up injuring my shoulder at work, quit working out, and fell back into my old lifestyle.
In 2016, I had a bad episode of Diverticulitis that put me in the ER where the doctor told me that if I didn’t change my diet, I was going to have to have surgery because my Colon was obstructed. That really got me thinking about changing my life. This condition was a result of my poor habits of eating out every day, drinking sodas, eating sweets, and having little to no physical activity.
In August of 2017, after I saw my mother’s health declining, I decided to take matters into my own hands and get serious about my health again. My buddy (Aaron Croxford) and my wife Romy decided to start doing the workouts with me.
We started working out three times a week. The workouts were not easy, but I didn’t give up. I also changed my eating habits and started juicing every day. My supervisor (Raquel Poteet) advised me about some videos online, that would help me to learn more about juicing. She suggested the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. This documentary was also mentioned by DDP on his APP. “The Resurrection of Jake the Snake Roberts” was also a huge influence for me getting back into DDP Yoga.
After a month of working out, I lost 10 pounds and I also stopped taking the Blood Pressure medication, as well as the Pre-Diabetes medication. Slowly, I started to feel better and I began challenging myself again feeling like I had a new lease on life.
So far, I have lost 70 pounds: gained incredible flexibility and no longer experience any physical pain. Currently, I weigh 217-pounds, and I am working out every day, twice a day, tracking my heart rate and my food intake as well. DDP Yoga is addicting!
Recently, I signed up to get my DDP Yoga Level 1 certification, and I am excited to spread the word about DDP Yoga.
